The movement was founded in 1919 in the city of Weimar by German Walter Gropius who was a architect. It was in the form of a school! Bauhaus was a combined movement of architecture, sculpture, and paintings into a single creative expression.
The word means construction, building and reconstruction, basically the process or constructions of something! The term Gesamtkunstwerk was first used by the German writer and philosopher in one of his essays and it means or translates into total word of art, ideal work of art, and comprehensive artwork.
The main influences of Bauhaus were Modernism and Construction. also it was meant to of been influenced in its early days by the Expressionist Art Movement.
The artist that were involved included Ludwig Miles Ian Der Rohe, Le Corbusler, and Frank Lloyd
. The form masters were a couple of well known artist including Johannes Itten, Paul Klee, and Wassily Kandinsky, it was a artist direction.
Craft Masters were responsible for actual practical training and techniques. The Apprentices were the students at the school studying. The reason the school shut was because of the Nazis, in 1933. It shut as it was under pressure from the Nazi Regime. Many of the artist continued to spread its idealist precepts as they emigrated over the world, many went to the US where the legacy of Bauhaus design was key to the development of the Modern ‘International Style’

I appreciate Itten’s work but I am not a big fan, its very simply and wonderful but it looks easy! I do like how it look when its framed and finished but if any other artist did this I wouldn’t be impressed.

I really liked Paul Klee’s work they have a lot of detail and depth , I think I like how different each of his imagers look but the techniques similar and it really comes through, you can definitely tell he create both pieces of art.

I liked the Bauhaus system it must of worked as from history and time it did, it lasted for a lot of years and then developed and inspired other things and movements.
It kept a legacy which I think is brilliant it is nice that what it stands for got saved and did spread across the globe!
