Paris Sketch book

I absolute am delighted with this project, I was excited to hear what this was going to be when me and the FD students took a trip to Paris, Andy Jones our tutor wanted us to all participate in publishing a book about the trip which we will all be putting together two pages each into the book. I took over 500 images around Paris, main attractions, the locals, lamp posts, and even cups of tea! I wanted to catch Paris in the moment. I also visited local bars and cafes. While I was there, I sketched people eating and talking. I also created some simple illustrations of areas I liked and what ever I basically wanted to! I really want my page to represent everything I seen and felt, Paris was so full of character and I want this to show through my work. I am going to research a number of designers who I personally think relate to this project.
I really like Damian Gascoigne, his illustrations are so simple yet detailed and childlike, I think he relates to some of my illustrations. I like how some of his work have no colours and its just plain black ink on white paper, its bold and different. Very unique! Damian Gascoigne is an illustrator and animator, his work is delightful.Screen Shot 2013-11-17 at 22.08.55

Salvatore Rubbino is another illustrator I think inspires me, you can see this in my illustrations, they reflect how he illustrates and sketches.

Laszlo Tar is another designer who started his work early, learning to draw and paint from an early stage in this life. You can tell I think looking at his work that he knows exactly what his style is, and its rather lovely. The technique he users makes his illustrations look like water, it’s so smooth and effortless. I want my work to resemble his style. He has given me a lot of inspiration. He also users a lot of brght colours and keeps you interested in every piece. He is very different from Damian Gascoigne, as much as I like both designers, Gascoigne is by far more related to me as a designer. Screen Shot 2013-11-17 at 22.43.49

  1. Someone once said “The pushy bird gets the worm” your paris blog and post paris information is coming along in great abundance. You will have a great deal of research and inspiration from others design work, along with your own intentions and paris sketching, I predict wonderful stuff to be produced.
